The short answer
- Required: at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), at 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556.
- Also needed: a large iPhone size. Without iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display), iPhone with Face ID (large display) becomes required.
- A pair that covers both: 1320 × 2868 and 1206 × 2622.
- iPad: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732, only if your app runs on iPad.
- Format: JPEG or PNG, with no alpha channel or transparency.
- Number: 1 to 10 per device size.
iPhone sizes
Apple now names its slots by device type, so a guide that speaks in inches may not match what you see in App Store Connect.
| Apple's slot | Portrait sizes | Status |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display) | 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796, 1260 × 2736 | Optional, but see the next line |
| iPhone with Face ID (large display) | 1284 × 2778, 1242 × 2688 | Required if you skip the line above |
| iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display) | 1206 × 2622, 1179 × 2556 | Required |
| iPhone with Face ID (medium display) | 1170 × 2532, 1125 × 2436, 1080 × 2340 | Optional |
| iPhone with Home Button (large display) | 1242 × 2208 | Optional |
| iPhone with Home Button (medium display) | 750 × 1334 | Optional |
| iPhone Duo (outer display) | 1398 × 2034 | Optional for now |
| iPhone Duo (inner display) | 2007 × 2853 | Optional for now |
Landscape works too: swap the two numbers. The 4-inch and 3.5-inch slots still exist and they're optional.
Starting in April 2027, Apple will require iPhone Duo screenshots for any app using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.
iPad sizes
| Apple's slot | Portrait sizes | Status |

| 12.9-inch display | 2048 × 2732 | Optional |
| 11-inch display | 1488 × 2266, 1668 × 2420, 1668 × 2388, 1640 × 2360 | Optional |

iOS builds made with SaasToStore target iPhone only today, so you don't need iPad screenshots for them.
How scaling saves you work
If your interface looks the same on every device size, you only need the highest required resolution. App Store Connect scales those screenshots down for the smaller slots.
What your screenshots must show
- The app in use. Not only the title art, the login page or the splash screen (guideline 2.3.3).
- Text and overlays are allowed, to show how the app works.
- No other mobile platform. No names, icons or imagery of Android or another app marketplace in your metadata (guideline 2.3.10).
Change your screenshots later
App Store Connect takes new screenshots while your version is at Prepare for Submission, Invalid Binary, Rejected, Metadata Rejected or Developer Rejected. For an app that's already live, create a new version, then send it for review.
